Pacific Oyster Mortality Syndrome (POMS) has now been confirmed in a number of growing areas in Tasmania. In an effort to control the spread of POMS, a permit controlled area has been declared for the whole of Tasmania. This declaration restricts the movement of oysters, and associated materials and equipment between growing areas.
Because of the potential biosecurity risks, all oyster removal activities such as feral oyster control/oyster bashing should cease until further notice.
