NRM South is seeking a Senior Project Officer/Program Coordinator to develop and manage projects on river health, inland and coastal water quality, nature-based solutions, and inland and coastal wetland restoration. We are seeking candidates with experience in initiating, managing and facilitating the on-ground delivery of a range of complex projects, stakeholder engagement and relationship management and providing specialist technical advice. This is a permanent position, based in Hobart, with flexible working hours (0.6 – 1.0 FTE).

NRM South is one of three natural resource management bodies in Tasmania and forms part of a national network of 54 similar bodies. NRM South is a not-for-profit and is responsible for contributing to the region’s natural resource management, including action on threatened species, Threatened Ecological Communities and priority places. We have a partnership delivery model, delivering projects on behalf of Australian and Tasmanian Governments, and through investment from our local, business and industry partners.
What you’ll do
The Senior Project Officer/Program Coordinator (SPO/PC) will develop and manage projects on river health, inland and coastal water quality, nature-based solutions, and inland and coastal wetland restoration. The SPO/PC will have experience in initiating, managing and facilitating the on-ground delivery of a range of complex projects and lead and contribute to the broader Water Program through activities including stakeholder engagement and relationship management, providing specialist technical advice, and other tasks as requested by NRM South management.
What you’ll bring
You’ll have tertiary qualifications in either freshwater ecology, hydrology, natural resource management or equivalent, with experience in managing and delivering projects.
What we offer
You’ll be working in a small team with people who share your values to protect Tasmania’s natural environment. We offer a salary of $85,933 – $101,313 per year (depending on qualifications and experience), plus superannuation. This is initially a 12-month employment opportunity with extension subject to performance and funding. Candidates will be considered at the Senior Project Officer level, with those with higher skills and experience in complex project management and delivery considered at Program Coordinator level.
