Sustainable Futures
Our approach to nature conservation and land management is continually evolving, responding to new and emerging threats, increased demands on our natural resources, opportunities, innovation, research, new markets and Indigenous priorities.
Our Sustainable Futures theme showcases our involvement in forward-thinking initiatives that are working to both improve resilience, pro-actively manage risk and implement nature-based solutions.
A changing climate is driving an increased severity and frequency of disasters and emergency events, ranging from extreme weather events to bushfires to flash floods, and emergency biosecurity incursions.
These events not only threaten human lives, property, and food supply, but also have significant impacts on biodiversity and agricultural natural capital assets. It is crucial that we enhance our preparedness and response to mitigate these risks effectively.
Nature is our partner in addressing climate and carbon challenges. The economic potential of a nature-positive future is enormous, and Tasmania can be at the forefront.
By integrating nature into our economies, working collaboratively, measuring and tracking our environmental impact, reducing our footprint, and investing in innovative ideas, we can drive both economic growth and ecological restoration.
