Today, the Hon Tanya Plibersek MP, Minister for the Environment and Water, announced an important funding boost for environmental projects across Australia, and NRM South is proud to be at the forefront in protecting Tasmania’s unique wildlife and ecosystems.
With funding for four key projects through the Australian Government’s Natural Heritage Trust and Saving Native Species (Priority Places), NRM South will continue leading initiatives for critical habitats. This funding enables us to continue to deliver tangible outcomes and protect Tasmania’s unique and precious wildlife and landscapes – including on-ground actions to protect Swift Parrots and Orange-bellied Parrots, globally significant wetland habitat at Moulting Lagoon, and expanding our Biodiverse Bruny project on Bruny Island – one of 20 priority places in the Threatened Species Action Plan and a priority in the 2030 NRM Strategy for Southern Tasmania.
This investment not only strengthens Tasmania’s resilience but also reinforces NRM South’s commitment to collaborative, science-driven and nature-based solutions. Working collaboratively with our partners, we are ensuring that Tasmania’s landscapes and seascapes are preserved for future generations, while demonstrating the tangible impact of effective natural resource management.
